Wow.
23 whole fucking pages dedicated to losing weight. *sighs*
- This issue is all about taking women who were once proud and fabulous with “curves” and showing off how they toned themselves down to fit the standard. Jennifer Lopez was notorious for her curves. She wasn’t ashamed of herself. In fact, it was never an issue. No one was ever like “I wonder when she plans on getting a reality check and losing that weight.” And now, as earlier noted, Jennifer Hudson slimmed down significantly. Of course, i’m not mad at either one of them. And, i suppose, if someone would like to lose weight and want to use the two women as inspiration, i guess it’s not my place to say that it’s wrong. But what the fuck, man? These women were two examples of the fact that weight doesn’t necessarily have to stand in your way of success and happiness. We like to pretend that some women with curves are fabulous, but as soon as they lose weight we act as though the chipped a huge chip off their shoulder. Just as i finished that last sentence, a Jennifer Hudson weight watchers commercials came on… and suddenly it makes sense… *sigh*
- I really just don’t think it’s mentally healthy to go on a meal plan, designed by a magazine no less, for two whole months. But that’s just me, i’m not attuned to the whole idea of long term diet & fitness plans. When i personally think about working out and eating certain foods for more than two weeks i find that i become obsessive over it. I hate the fact that we are encouraged to obsess over the food we eat. Everytime i eat at night my mom’s in the corner saying “if you want to lose weight, you can’t eat after 6pm.” Yeah… no. I hate this idea that we have to discipline and deprive ourseleves up just to lose weight. Because losing weight shouldn’t be the most important thing in our lives. The fact that there are commercials that encourage women to take on a “Special K challenge” of eating CEREAL for two meals of our day is fucking ridiculous.
