i love this post. ghetto seems to always come out of people’s mouths to refer to something/someone african/african american. when you even THINK of the term ghetto you think black people. Just keep the word out of your mouth period. Just stop using it

Growing up, I had a friend who’s mother would present her ART in hairshows. My stepmother does hair. My cousin used to do the MOST SICK cornrows in my scalp when she was in high school. I didn’t have money to buy those hair magazines that were on every newsstand - but i damn sure tried to look through the whole thing to see what new GORGEOUS styles were in the issue for that week that I wanted to learn how to do on myself.
Y’all just don’t know. Hair is something serious.
Its interesting because I always hear the “when a black girl has pink streaks, its ghetto, when anyone else does it its hipster and cute” but I never saw a side-by-side photo before.
